Photo Backgrounds in Tables and Cells
Using photos as a table background provides you with the ability to overlay text, or even other images. This is also handy for creating text or image which sit on top of a photo, illustration of other graphic.
In the first example, we used a photo as a background for an entire table. The construction begins with a table this is four rows by four columns (4 x 4). There is zero spacing between the cells, and 4 pixels of spacing within the cells. The width of the table is set to match the exact widht of the photo.
First, the image was selected as the background for the entire table.
Then, the cell height for each row was fixed using Cell Properties. This creates the exac height needed for each row:
-
Row 1 is set to reveal 20 pixel of the image above the buttons (row 2).
-
Row 2 has text in each column which has been linked. Each cell was assigned the same background color. Because the table is setup with no spacing between cells, the background appears continuout.
-
Row 3 is just 11 px high. All of the cells in this row were merged into one, and then a background slice was used to add the shadow--it is setup for Repeat-x (horizontally).
-
Row 4 is set so that it reveals the bulk of the photo. but with one row using a colored background to offset the text which has been made into links:
